Intro. lesson on gentleness in Wednesday night ladies bible class
Galatians 5:22-23
Colossians 3:12
Characteristics of a gentle person...
Calm
Patient
Kind
Tender hearted
Prayerful
Softly spoken
Meekness
Definition of gentleness...
Meekness
Humility
Praütēs - Greek word for meekness
Fashioned grace of the soul... something that takes work to get to wear you want to be.
A trait that enabled us to look humanely at a case... with consideration
To be meek or gentle, lowly or humble
The opposite of arrogance or pride
Meekness, gentleness, humility, considerateness
The Hebrew translation of gentleness translates into impoverished.
Epieikēs - Greek word for gentleness
Equitable, fair, forbearing, reasonable
Gentleness refers to the manner we treat others.
Gentleness recognizes that people are fragile, so we treat them with care and try not to do anything that will hurt or tear them down.
Gentleness = power under control
Isaiah 40:25-27, 11
Our God that is so mighty and powerful also treats His flock as a shepard would, carrying them gently.
Analogy comparing us to horses needing to be broken... we must gently be broken by God, so we can be useful. An unbroken horse has no use to its owner, just as an unbroken person has no use to God.
James 3:13-17

Faithfulness
In the ladies Bible class I attend on Wednesday nights at the church of Christ in Sunray, TX, we have been studying the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Tonight's lesson given by Nancy Grundy is about the struggle to faithfulness.
Galatians 5:17 - it is a daily struggle as we deal with life. It takes a lot of energy.
What keeps us from being successful in that struggle?
- too tired... I can't... physical struggle
-- Philippians 4:13 - I can with His strength in me!
- laziness... I don't want to... mental struggle
-- Matthew 25:40 - we're doing everything for Jesus
-- Colossians 3:23 - remember who are we really doing everything for
-- Proverbs 31:27 - do not eat the bread of idleness
- hopelessness... why try... who cares
-- Joshua 1:9 - God is with us, do not be dismayed
-- Lamentations 3:22-23 - God's faithfulness is with us everyday
- procrastination... I'll do it later... later never comes
-- Ecclesiastes 9:10 - be mindful while we're working... later will never come
- rationalization... someone else will do it... someone else will help...
-- 1 Timothy 3:11 - faithful in all things... not just some
- apathy... I don't care... spiritual numbness
-- Mark 10:45 - the Lord gave his life as a ransom for many (us included)... how can we not care when He did that for us?
- rebellion... I won't... hardness of heart
-- Proverbs 29:1 - if your heart is hard, you will be destroyed without remedy.
Psalm 139:23-24 - every morning, say this in your prayer before you begin your day.
Psalm 27:1 - the Lord is the strength of my life. If He is my light and my salvation, how can I not walk faithfully?
1. We must strive to be faithful.
2. Evaluate your life in the area of faithfulness.
3. When you see a need for faithfulness, make that a matter of prayer and concrete action.
4. Be faithful in small things.
5. Rely on God's help and be willing to study.
6. Remember the reward for faithfulness... Matthew 25:21 - if we want to share in His happiness, we must be faithful... Joshua 24:14a... fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness.
These are just my notes from class 😊

Scripture:
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting his child.
~ Luke 2:4-5
Observation:
I cannot imagine what it would have been like to live in that time, not married, and expecting a child while still being a virgin (unbeknownst to everyone except my family). The things that must have been going through Mary's head... What will people think of me? What does Joseph think? Will I be raising this child alone? Is this really happening?
Application:
Mary maintained a brave face as far as we can see in the Bible. Joseph maintained being the supportive husband-to-be. They worked together to ensure the child Mary was carrying was able to live to be the Savior that would, one day, save us all. I need to live knowing God has a purpose for me and my family and do what is needed to make His purpose for me a reality.
Prayer:
Lord, I pray that every day, for the rest of my life, I strive to be the person You created me to be. I pray that I help guide my family in the way that glorifies You. In my incessant times of weakness, please help me to find You again. In Your son's name, Amen.
Blessings,
Ronna

The S.O.A.P. Method
During the school year, the ladies at church have our own "man free" Bible class. One of the sweet ladies from church (that also happens to be my neighbor) did a lesson on personal Bible study and journaling. I love to study the Bible and journal, but have never found a way that I stuck with, but she showed me. This is called the S.O.A.P. method. You choose a verse (or set of verses) and break it down into real life application. How does that verse apply to you? I have been more blessed in the last 3 days than I have in my life through these scripture studies, so I decided to share them :-)
Blessings,
Ronna

Stitch Fix
As some of you know, one of my guilty pleasures is the #StitchFix box that I get every month in the mail. Well, one of my friends was asking about what I got last night. Instead of trying to describe everything, I had my husband take pictures of me wearing all that I got (not at the same time of course). So, for those of you curious... here you go! Please forgive the mess!
Fix #1 ~ Elle Woven Clutch (Urban Expressions) $38
This little thing was so cute! The problem was that it was SO small. It was not a practical bag for me to keep because no matter where I go, I always have a lot of stuff to carry with me.
Needless to say, I sent this little gem back. Maybe they'll send me a bigger bag next time :)
Fix #2 ~ Neve Bermuda Shorts (Liverpool) $48
I LOVE how these shorts fit. The length is perfect, and they have just enough stretch where I'm not uncomfortable on my "I-feel-fat" days. As I told my friend when I was texting her these pictures, I've got to learn how to stand skinny when someone is taking my picture. Any tips?
These were a definite keep even though my sweet husband told me they look weird. He couldn't explain himself, but I loved them enough to keep them anyway!
Fix #3 ~ Emer Printed High Waisted Cropped Pant (Margaret M) $98
These pants were definitely comfortable when I first put them on! When I looked down, I had a problem. They were a weird length on me. They were supposed to be ankle length, but I prefer for them to be cut above my ankle bone not below. They might have been cute with a pair of wedge heels, but I wear those so seldom they weren't worth keeping for just a few times a year.
I will be sending these back for sure. It helped that the price was a lot above what I normally would spend on a pair of pants!
The print on them was very cool though :)

This dress was definitely a keeper. A little more than I'd normally spend on a dress, but the comfort level was the deciding factor.
Fix #5 ~ Elaine Ikat Print Pocket-Front Knit Shirt (Market & Spruce)
I have received a few other pieces that are the Market & Spruce brand and I have yet to return one of them! The material they use and the styles they cut are perfect for me. I put this shirt on and couldn't keep myself from feeling the material all over :) So soft and comfy, but also something I could put with a pair of dress pants and flats to wear to school (work).
This was also a keeper! I immediately hung it in my closet :)
With the three things I kept, minus my $20 stylist fee and $30 from referrals (thanks to the ladies that signed up under my referral link!), plus tax my grand total was ....... $114.84 and I didn't have to leave my house to go through the disappointing fiasco of trying on piece after piece of clothing that may or may not fit the way I want.
If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, it is amazing! You get the boxes as often as YOU want them to come, and you can stop at any time without having to go through the hassle of unsubscribing. You set up your shipments! My stylist, Victoria, is amazing!
Here's my referral link that will give me a little bonus on my next shipment as soon as you have a shipment sent to you!

This dress was so comfortable that I didn't want to take it off! Those are the tell-tale signs that I need to keep whatever I'm wearing :) I didn't take a picture of the back of the dress, but it does criss cross at the top, which gives it a little more detail. This dress was definitely a keeper. A little more than I'd normally spend on a dress, but the comfort level was the deciding factor.

World Turned Upside Down
I haven't posted in a few months because (since my last post) my world has been turned upside down...
School started...
Mom was diagnosed with cancer...
Mom was put in hospice care...
Mom passed away 23 days after the day of diagnosis...
My best friend, confidant, advisor, shoulder to cry on, my everything was gone... I didn't know what to do with myself, my life, my family, my everything...
Because of all of you praying for me and my family, giving me hugs and words of encouragement, being an all around good friend and Christian example... I'm not crying every day. I'm not wallowing in the fact that one of the most important people in my life is no longer here on Earth with me. I'm focusing on the fact that she no longer hurts, she's no longer tired, she no longer has to worry about anything. She is with God. She is with her mama. She is in the greatest place there is to be. Heaven. I have no doubt that she is there. She is the reason I created this blog and titled it Being a Proverbs 31 Woman. She is my inspiration in everything I do in life. She taught me all that I needed to know to continue life without her. This was not my first choice by any means, but because of the example she was and the mother she will always be in my heart, I can continue on knowing that she gave me all the tools I need to be as wonderful a person as she was.
Now we're on to a new year, a new semester with my sweet first graders, and new beginnings...
I'm learning how to live all over again...
I'm remembering the good times...
I'm not dwelling on the things that will be missed...
I'm feeling human again...
And that's all thanks to you! My friends and family! You are the reason I'm me again. Thank you for being there for me when I didn't know where to turn or what to do. God has truly blessed me with the greatest of the great! I hope that I in turn will be a blessing for each of you. <><

Teacher Life
The first week of school is behind me, and I can honestly say that I more than survived!
My 14 (will be 15 soon) little duckies blew me away with how quickly they learned our rules and procedures! Some of us (teachers) have picked up the "whole brain teaching" method, and it has made teaching fun again!
If you haven't heard of it, Google some videos of teachers using whole brain teaching in their classrooms.
Here is a math lesson using whole brain teaching! I cannot wait to see how this works in my classroom!
Whole Brain Teaching
My kids at school, in two days, had memorized our 5 rules, and can repeat them to me at the drop of a hat!
"The 5 Rules"
They love using mirrors to learn, and have a smile on their face when they respond to me saying, "Claaaaasssss?" God bless whoever came up with this whole brain teaching phenomenon! It has made my world, and my students' world, a happier place!
What It Looks Like
I cannot wait to share all of the fun things we will be doing this year! It is definitely going to be full of learning, and, best of all, full of fun! Blessings to all of you that are teachers! I hope you have as great a year as mine has started out to be!
Blessings,
Ronna <><
